As I was walking, the little marker sometimes spun around like crazy obviously having issues determining what direction I was walking, but maybe that is of lesser importance.

That is ok for a $49 device.
Unacceptable for a $500 phone.
And more so when you compare it with G1, a 2 years device that can pretty much nail your walk with pinpoint precision.
