That is a good question, and one you would have to ask Sprint for the final word on. Again though, it seems silly to have it charging but the charger isn't capable of keeping up with the hotspot app! The Sprint terms of service definitely seem to suggest that tethering is not an allowed form of data usage:

But now that Sprint has taken it away as part of the 2.2 update -- I just feel like it's my job to figure out how to get it back. I don't really plan on tethering but they took it away so now I feel like I have to try and do it.
Just FYI, I updated my own phone to 2.2 and the upgrade went fine (no errors as far as I can tell).
