Default Battery problems are mostly solved

Hi all,
Like everyone else, I love love love the Droid Eris but have hated battery life and thought I was going to have to return it for this sole reason. So I followed the tips on this and other forums and am FINALLY getting decent battery life. Here are my findings:

1. Conditioning the battery by letting it run all the way down and then charging it up seems to help alot. For best results, do this three days in a row.

2. Get rid of YouMail!!! I love the app, but that single-handedly was keeping my awake times at or near 100%.

3. Disable auto backlighting, and set the brightness to approximately 25%. It's still pretty bright at 25% brightness.

3. Be judicious with your use of the wireless radios, such as Bluetooth, Wifi, GPS, etc.

4. You DON'T have to turn off Mobile Network as has been suggested by avid forum-goers like Grimster. Yes, it will make your phone into a STAR performer for battery life, but taking this step kind of defeats the purpose of having a smartphone, doesn't it?

I am using Handcent SMS as well, but it's mainly because I like the app and not because of battery life issues.

I can only imagine what HTC's upcoming updates will do. At this moment, I am actually happy with the battery life, and I am a pretty active phone user.

Please don't forget the first 3 complete discharge cycles; it has really seemed to help!

Good luck.
