Like what exactly? (that vista is giving your trouble with) ..just curious.
There's Wine and one other program designed to allow you to run windows apps/games, but they don't work for everything.
You can dual boot, sure. Lots of people do that. I believe foo here does.
Or you can virtualize windows in a virtualbox or vmware environment.. which is what we both do - both at home and at work. Which is great. However, accelerated video doesn't translate through so.. it wouldn't be good for games really or whatever. But for whatever else it'll work.
It's tricky, and will require tweaking and modifying (wink) but you can get other devices (like USB drives) to work in virtual environments as well as the sound to come through, and as I like to do it, a shared folder that's right there on ubuntu's desktop that you map to from within your virtual xp, so you can easy move files back and forth.
