because I have twice requested an unlock code from T-mobile and all I have got from them and Motorola is a he said she said run around and its really frustrating.

Ah... you want to use the Cliq on a different carrier than TMO? That makes total sense, no reason not to share that information.
It also may explain why TMO has not provided the unlock code if you are not a current customer...
