I had actually tried the Moto Droid when it first came out, and kept it for two weeks...and the battery conditioned just fine on that one.
I'm in a transition from iPhone/ATT back to VZW...and hopefully an Android device. The reason why I took the Droid back was I thought I couldn't live without the almighty iPhone. But a couple days of terrible ATT reception, and I was back on the trail back to VZW...thus, I picked up the Eris for a try. Not working out so well...only because of the battery.
In most cases like this, I would think it was a bad battery...but, I've read SOOOO much about this on this and other forums that I don't think I've just got a bad one.

If you'll just be patient, there is an OTA update coming to help with battery life, and a company called Seido has a 1750mAh extended battery in production. I'll certainly be buying it.
