I dropped my iPod Touch numerous times onto the pavement, I'd say 10 times over the 2 years I had it. From between waist and upper body distance. I believe Apple uses Gorilla Glass. Any ways almost every time I dropped it, it landed screen down (of course) but it never cracked. But on the flip side I've heard stories of people dropping their device with gorilla glass from a much lower distance than I did mine onto a much softer surface and it cracking the 1st time. Gorilla Glass might just be the most unpredictable technology I've seen in awhile
