Same Problem As The Rest Of You
I was about to start a new thread about this, as I don't really visit this board much, but low and behold as soon as I typed the thread title and moved to the message box, up popped a bunch of threads with similar themes. So here I am, and can clearly see this isn't an isolated problem. My Moment has been upgraded to 2.1 and all of the other firmware updates as well. I don't use any kind of task killer, and I have hardly any third party apps. I use my phone as a phone, not a video game machine so I have no interest in 99.9% of the apps available in the Marketplace.
However just a few days ago for the first time since owning the phone I enabled Wifi, and Airplane mode mysteriously turned on all by itself. I don't have to explain to all of you what Airplane mode does, and why one would not want it to be on if one were not on an airplane. Really freaking annoying! Turning off Wifi in the settings does jack, it just comes back on again. Turning off Wifi and then turning off the phone completely is the only way to really turn off Wifi. With Wifi off, the Airplane mode issue seems to disappear. So does this mean I can't use a feature of the phone I paid for? I am paying every month as part of my bill, Wifi accessibility, and now because of this stupid issue I will be afraid to enable it. How this glitch ever made it past R&D is beyond me, but it was obviously not ready for prime time, and still isn't. No fix to be found on the web, other than just turning the phone on and off again, well that is UNACCEPTABLE!
Between this, the absolutely horrible GPS reception, the lag when switching screens, the extremely poor Web performance, and the ridiculousness of having random apps go off while on the phone (I love it when I'm on a call and my music player turns on, just love it!) I'm hitting up the Sprint store tomorrow to see about getting a new phone. Not another Moment however. I am going to raise hell if they try to give me a new Moment, because the problem is inherent in the phone, not the software. I have been very unhappy with this phone, the physical keyboard being it's major selling point. It's big, bulky, heavy, and the performance sucks, time for a new phone, on Sprint's dime.
