Default Windows 7 .wtv recording format and Samsung DLNA

I'm in the market for a new Windows 7 computer with a built in TV tuner. It appears that the older DVR-MS recording format has been replaced with a newer .wtv format. I want to play back (stream) these .wtv recordings to my new Samsung Blu-Ray DLNA (BD-C6900) compliant player over my wireless-n network. However, the documentation that comes with my Blu-Ray player does NOT list the .wtv format.

How can I confirm that the .wtv format will work in this scenario? I've already setup my Wireless-N network and have successfully streamed from my Windows Vista laptop to my DLNA player. I had to download some software from Samsung which makes my Vista laptop media (specific folders) visible to my DLNA player. It sounds as if Windows 7 takes this to an even higher level. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
