Korea uses WCDMA and CDMA2000, the iphone in korea is exactly the same as the iPhone in the US only it is all on a "3G" network based of WCDMA (UMTS). Two different technologys you don't want to mix up. That would make no sense as people would be buying these "special iphones" from korea and quite easily hacking them on verizon but that has never been the case. CDMA is an air interface used in UMTS (WCDMA, HSDPA, HSUPA,HSPA+, HSPA, w/e) and CDMA2000 (1xEVDO, 1xRTT, EVDO, w/e)systems.

They will also realize that the innovation was only superficial. Apple will continue to make devices but sales will drop substantially.

I personally consider the iPhone as important device and a turning point in the way we interact with mobile devices. It's important because it bridge the gap between smart phones and dumb phones, attracted mainstream attention to the smart phones forcing other manufactures to finally start updating their user experience. However I like many other smart phone users realized early on that we would be taking a step backwards with iPhones in terms of functionality.

May you rest in peace iPhone!
The iPhone isnt going to "jump" to a new carrier its going to remain on AT&T but not be exclusive and most likely move to T-Mobile. Phones don't disapear from carriers that fast no matter how shitty they are I can tell you that right now. Apple makes WAY too much money from AT&T + the iPhone.
