I have absolutely the same Problem jonrosenfeld marked out (see quote). In my case I did not tried to make a calendar entry through the phone. - But I installed
MyPhoneExplorer Client. Is it possible that that compromised/affected the calendar? If I deactivate the calendar syncing - email and contacts still keep working.
By the way - I use a HTC Desire Phone with Android 2.2 / HTC Sense.
