I contacted verizon about not being able to access my yahoo account via IMAP and was told to goto this link DROID ERIS by HTC Email Set Up Instructions I told the person I have a motorola droid not the HTC droid, she said it was the same for both phones.

To access Yahoo! Mail you must be a Yahoo! Mail Plus subscriber.
When you enter a Yahoo! Mail Plus account and your password, it will configure successfully. All other Yahoo! accounts will result in an “Authentication Failed. Please verify your username/password” error message. Visit www.yahoo.com for details on subscribing or upgrading to a Yahoo! Mail Plus account.
As an alternative, you can check Yahoo! mail by visiting www.yahoo.com using the web browser.

I signed up for a yahoo plus account and got pop3 account to work (it doesnt seem to update very often - I have it set to update every 15 minutes but seems like it only updates every 2-3 hours). I tried setting up an IMAP account so that I can also have access to all of my personal folders. I had no luck. I used the settings posted in several of the posts on this site as well as many others and it keeps saying i have an incorrect username/password. (I made sure wi-fi was off - had the correct ports etc)I know the information I entered is correct. I have tried it dozens of times over the past week since I have my phone. I used this information to sign into my yahoo account on my pc and it worked.
I contacted yahoo plus's chat line and here is my converation.
Please wait for a Yahoo! agent to respond.
You are now chatting with Phillip
Your Issue ID for this chat is LTK4260752684X
Phillip: Hi! Welcome to our Yahoo! Mail Live Chat service. I'm glad you've
joined us.
Phillip: Thank you for providing us the details of your issue.
Phillip: In my understanding, you are having problems setting up Yahoo! Mail
through IMAP with your Motorola droid. Is this correct?
Me: yes
Me: i have a plus account and am using imap.mail.yahoo.com port 143 for incoming server & smpt.mobile.mail.yahoo.com port 587 for my outgoing server and I keep getting a message saying I have an invalid username/password. I know the information is correct. I logged into my pc with the information I typed in.
Phillip: We're glad to have this opportunity to assist you with this issue. I
will do my best to help you with this.
Phillip: Hold on for two minutes and I will see what I can do.
Me: i have read hundreds of messages on dozens of message boards and appears lots of people are also having issues.

Phillip: I will be right with you, Sir.
Me: no problem
Phillip: Thank you for waiting, Sir.
Phillip: The IMAP settings will be provided by your mobile device's carrier.
Phillip: Please contact them and ask for the IMAP settings.
Me: so yahoo plus doesnt support imap? I originally contacted them before I contacted you and said to access yahoo email, I needed to order yahoo plus. So I did. Verizon directed me to this link DROID ERIS by HTC Email Set Up Instructions and said I need to be a plus user to access my yahoo account. I can access my mail through pop BUT I want to access it through IMAP so that I can also have access to all of my personal folders.
Phillip: We have an IMAP with mobile devices however the settings will be
provided by your carrier.
Me: I will contact them again, but it appears I am getting a run around. I contacted Verizon who tells me to get a yahoo plus which I did and still cant get my mail to work so I contact you and then you tell me to contact them.
Phillip: Would there be anything else I could help you with?
Me: no

From reading hundreds of posts about this issue on multiple sites, it appears that people who got their droid early and set this up were fine BUT within a few weeks of the droids release, things didnt work.

Is this a Verizon issue?
Is this a yahoo issue?
Is this a motorola issue?

I have my pop account set up which is ok for now BUT I am hoping in the very near future that someone can come up with a solution or a work around/fix or yahoo releases an application for the android for people like me that are still unable to get their yahoo imap account set up on their droid. I really dont want to spend the time forwarding hundreds of emails from one account to the other.
