Hi Everyone. This is Mary with Rogers and I wanted to take the opportunity to update this forum regarding support for Rogers Android devices.

As you know, we have been selling Android devices since last spring and were the first to introduce the platform into the Canadian market. We are passionate about these devices and love hearing the positive feedback we’ve been getting from customers. Our line-up is the largest in Canada and we will continue to lead the Canadian market with further introductions of Android-powered devices.

We understand that a large part of that commitment includes providing support for OS updates and upgrades, in particular for the HTC Dream and HTC Magic devices. I can assure you that I have been listening to your feedback and we have been working diligently to address your concerns.

Here’s what I’ve been able to find out:
·HTC has not provided Rogers with any OS upgrades for the Dream or Magic. However, HTC has provided us with updates to the 1.5 system and there will be further updates.

·Over the short term, we will work with HTC and expect to be releasing updates to both Dream and Magic 1.5 OS that will address issues and provide significant enhancements to the overall user experience.

·HTC has indicated that they do not plan any Android 1.6 upgrades for either the Rogers Dream or Magic but will instead remain on the 1.5 platform. The 1.5 OS actually includes many features that are not supported by 1.6 - like support for Exchange.

·As our roster of Android phones increases, we will continue to work with the handset manufacturers to bring upgrades and updates to our customers as appropriate, but ultimately, we cannot do so until they are provided to us by the manufacturer.

·For more information, you can also visit the HTC website: HTC Mobile Phone Support - HTC Magic? (Rogers) - System and Upgrade

As soon as I have further information to share, I will be back to update you.
In the meantime, I am continuing to collect your feedback and provide all customer comments back to our team within Rogers as well as to our partners at HTC. If you have specific comments or questions, please let me know. I would be particularly interested in what you want to do on an upgraded OS that you feel you can't do now. This would be valuable feedback for me to share internally and with HTC. Just post that here to this forum and I will check back often.

Thank for your continued feedback,
Mary
