Well, because it says in CDS's post "
I had to call into Verizon & reprogram the phone as if it was new." I didn't have any other phone to call them from, and I didn't know if I could do it from a non-activated phone. I assumed not.
I did bring it in to the verizon store though. The two girls there were very nice, but weren't aware of the issue or how to fix it. I was told how to go about getting a replacement. I mentioned I had found this solution online though, so they gave it a shot. It fixed the problem. Lost all my phone storage data and contacts of course, but it works now so that's good enough for me.
