Welcome to the forums, cleanfreak.

It sounds like your device's Gallery app is storing over-size pieces of some recorded media.

It might be a good idea to start fresh with both the camera app and the Gallery app by clearing all cache and data, then rebooting your device.

Go in to the application manager and use the clear data and clear cache buttons: menu > settings > applications > manage applications > menu > sort by "all."
