Not really. When I took my phone in for the 2.2 update, I asked the tech about it. He didn't sound sure of himself, or didn't want to commit to anything, but he told me if I did a little bit of tethering w/o the plan it should be ok. So at least I have someone to blame
I may or may not have tried it with the wifeys Nook. If I did, I may or may not have seen the disclaimer that popped about about having the proper plan. There was no sign in or password, and it worked great.
