This is SQUARELY on the shoulders of Rogers and HTC; Google just made the software, and made it available open source, no strings attached. Manufacturers are free to do with it what they want.

Problem is, I think, Rogers doesn't want to pay for the Dream update, and HTC doesn't want to foot the bill, either. They figure it's a dead platform, even though it is STILL ACTIVELY BEING SOLD, and even updated for T-Mobile.

What Rogers and HTC fail to realize, is WE are not some dimwit consumers - we've done our research, we've read the XDA postings, we've SEEN HTC's own announcements about the G1 on T-Mobile being updated, and yet they insist that the Rogers dream cannot handle it?

Please - Just HOW gullible do they think we are? I wonder if they truly realize the average techie/intelligence level of the average android phone buyer? It's not Ma and Pa Kettle, I can assure you of that!
