You're welcome. Actually I installed CM7 RC3 last night and the "USB connected" prompt has now come back.
Personally I'll still use multi mount sd-card as I prefer not dismounting from the phone (and I've paid for it now!). You make a valid point regarding Ad Block but as the lite version worked well for me I just went ahead and bought the full version straight away (it's cheap enough). Amazon Appstore is only available in the USA, so I can't easily get hold of the Dual Mount SD Widget anyway.
