sarspants, thanks for the comments. I will check out timerific!
On point #2, I think you might have misundertood my comment...I never let the battery run down. I turn off the Hero before plugging in the charger every night. It never runs down to where it shuts off by itself. My point was simply that I turn it back on
BEFORE unplugging the charger in the morning...and the charge light indicator stays green until I unplug it after booting.
