Make sure you set the min and max to 128mhz for when the screen is off.
Also a quick note to see if it's working, turn the screen off, then turn it back on and quickly slide the lock down... you should see a lower message saying "clock speed set" if you see that then you are good.
I'd say give it a day or two. I am seriously amazed at this widget.. I think the first day I didn't really notice much but kept reading reviews and reocmmended settings... changed it to the above and when the screen is off, a nice way of it being downclocked.

I am happy with the results that I got so far, I am going to tweak the settings more of the system and see what else I can tweak. Very seriously considering getting rid of the battery widgets and only keeping the one that keeps it in the notification bar.

I definatly think the HTC widget for the battery though very pretty is a crucial drain on the battery.
