Update: I talked to HTC again today for at least the tenth time. Finally the rep says that he can confirm that they have the phone, they have my payment, they now have the parts, and they are working on repairing it. This is ten times more information than I've gotten out of them perviously. He said it would take 2-3 days to fix it and that they would be in contact with me.
Now, I don't know if any of this is true -- but at least they were able to give me some sort of status update. Perhaps they're just trying to shut me up for a few days and then feed me more crap later, but for now I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
