As I remember, if you damaged the tar by using WinZip or smth similar, Odin would not flash the firmware at all (folks, correct me if I'm wrong here). But still, what program did you use to edit your TAR?
Hmm. Try recovery mode (VOL down + Start Call + End Call, then Home or Menu button - don't remember exactly.).

Informale,
I just used Ubuntu to remove all the Cache and AMSS files from TAR.
But I opened with jzip before starting the flashing...
I just tried the recovery mode as you mentioned, and it showed me a yellow box... Then I push the Menu botton and the box opened!
But, after that the phone tried to reset and I'm stucked again!
Do you believe it's some problem in the TAR file?
