Without Wifi, Google Maps does not work. The satellite tries to locate me, but then returns unable to find your location. Does anybody of any way or ap to use my android phone as a gps without wifi or cellular service? I presume I would need to load in maps for the region.
Thanks.

Hopefully you get wifi to work on your phone
Try
MapDroyd, it allows offline map for your gps
Market:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.osa.android.mapdroyd&feature=search _result
It says you need ContentDroyd to download the map.
I've never used this, but I've heard that mapdroyd works.
