Do you have a nandroid backup of your current config? If so, do the full data wipe and then install 0.8.3. If it doesn't work out, you can always revert back, right? That's what is so great about nandroid backups. Just make sure when you create your current nandroid backup to select every field for the backup. Not sure if that's necessary, but that's what I do.
Thanks, doing a complete backup now. Is there any reason my apps will be lost if they're backed up with astro, or is the factory reset going to wipe all those out? Not a big deal as I don't have a ton of apps, but I'd prefer not to have to re download them. I might try updating with 7.1 and then go to 8.3 if I don't have to reset then.

Edit: Nevermind, I guess I can revert back if things are messed up anyway and keep all my apps no?
