Default Captivate Stuck of Samsung Splash Screen

I got my Captivate in April. It's unrooted. I've never tried to root it. Today, I was using it normally, but I noticed that it was running slower than usual so I decided to restart it. I turned it off and attempted to turn it on again. I turned it on the got the AT&T logo and the start up tone. Then it goes to the Samsung Galaxy screen with the flashing logo or whatever. It stay there FOREVER. I've taken out the battery, sim and memory card. I've put it in recovery mode and tried to reboot it from there. I've turned it off and left it on the charger. I've haven't been able to use for almost five hours. I really can't lose any of the data on this phone, since I start my first year of college on Monday.

Can anybody help me get on phone back up and running again?
