to have transparent statusbar i used the patcher by zdune:

it's simple.
also ur launcher and theme needs to support transparent statusbar or u can get it transparent only for live wallpapers or by using multi picture live.
adw,go launcher ex and launcher pro supports it i think.
if ur using adw u need to disable wallpaper hack in adw settings.

the modules tun and cufs are not loaded automatically at boot...need to do it manually frm terminal..i also tried editing the and deleting backup..executed and it worked but after restart modules not loaded and init file reverted back to original.
parasmi said we can create a simple script to load modules automatically and put it in init.d
for that i dont know linux..since u know..maybe u can do that??
Sorry... for me it is not as easy to understand as it is for you... you must have gone thro some hard work b4 u understand this... I have tried flashing statusbar_op_patch , though it only shows operator name and status bar become transparent when I apply Live wall paper and when in lock screen but in home screen it is black as usual.. Can u put it in some simple language or simplify the process..
