I imagine you can overclock it with one of the custom kernels that out there. But if you're going to do that, you just as well load Beast. But here's a page that has three kernels - 800, 900 and 1 gig.
AllDroid - View topic - Droid is stable at 800MHz. Nuff said *950MHz, 1.1GHz added* Scroll down about 1/3 of the way and there you will find evilboot8, evilboot9 and evilboot1g. I used all three and they work as advertised. Installation instructions are on that page too. I think I used the nandroid versions of those files (it was weeks ago and I can't even remember what I had for breakfast yesterday, so....). good luck
