JF has an app in the Market called "JF Updater" which provides options for downloading and installing his ADP, T-Mobile US and T-Mobile UK builds. (check for updates on a schedule you can set or let's you disable autochecking and check manually.)
As for getting OTA updates after rooting, my understanding is that if you rollback to RC33 you can get OTA updates, but I've not tried this myself (yet.) But T-Mobile specifically states that rooting will prevent you from getting OTA updates. Your mileage may vary.
Interesting responses (and lack thereof) to the 'why not root' question.
An interesting thing to point out, when people post about rooting in the T-Mobile forums, T-Mobile reps alter the post with a
red font warning at the top of the posts, but they don't specifically say that rooting will void your warranty. and they politely thank the person who posted the info on rooting. The warranty is for the hardware, so it is an interesting conundrum for them I'll bet.
