Hi,
I got fed up using my unreliable desire s, I had no faith in it. What's the point in having a £400 phone that can't perform basic functions.
I am not very technically minded but after no help form HTC I successfully downgraded the software and everything was perfect and working again. Thanks for the guide, was very easy to do, was actually surprised how easy.
While I was at it, I thought if have already voided my warranty I might as well try a custom rom, again really easy to do. The new software has sense 3.0 and is a massive improvement. The new rom operates brilliantly and sense 3.0 runs well on the single core processor.
As I said I'm no computer expert, but these guides helped if anyone else wants to try it.

and this is the ROM
[ROM] [25 SEP] Desires S Android 2.3.5 Sense 3.0 [v1.2 STABLE][Official Desire S ROM] - xda-developers.
My Desire S now has the new lock screen and 3D homepage, and doesn't have all the unwanted applications that I couldn't delete before. And most importantly, I receive calls and texts when people send them now.
