If the phone is thin, it probably doesn't matter. I just looked up the specs for the N1 and the HD2 and you might be surprised about the size difference:

Nexus One

Height - 119mm
Width - 59.8mm
Depth - 11.5mm

HTC HD2

Height - 120.5mm
Width - 67mm
Depth - 11mm

So we're only talking 1.5mm difference in height and 7.5mm in width. That's only just over a 1/4" difference in width and a negligible amount in height. I really don't think it would look any bigger in your back pocket. Do you?

If you're only gaining a 1/4 in width and about the same height and thickness, wouldn't your really want the 4.3" screen? When you're using the browser, the bigger the better (at least from my Hero perspective) and when you're using GPS navigation in your car, I think you'll appreciate the larger screen. My 3.2" screen doesn't make it.
