It's logical, in the sense that you're not touching any of the phone's internal memory, so only apps that store their cache or otherwise utilize the SD card's space will see benefit.

That, and the fact that the read speed of my new card is only 1 MB/s faster than my old one. (The write speed is 6-8 MB/s faster.)
