You would have to go to
www.sholes.info to look at the change log of the differences, but from what I remember, they were fairly substantial. Maps was one of them once they got it correct 2.0.3 up.
As for the theme, you can run whatever you like. I'm using MetaMorph because of the low overhead on the processor. Smoked Glass Blue theme..
