Regarding player safety, I do think that it is in the best interest of fans, players and owners for the league to protect the players' safety. I watch NHL (hockey), CFL (football) and NFL. All 3 leagues have been introducing rules in the interest of player safety. All 3 leagues have had maquee players injured for some significant length of time. As a fan, I support the recent changes to ensure player safety.

As for extending the season to 18 games, this happened in the CFL a few decades ago. We used to have 4 pre-season games and 16 regular season game. Now it's 2 pre-season and 18 regular season. As a fan, I have no complaints. My only observation with the change is that the first 2 regular season games may be a bit sloppier, than before, but not much. In any league, it's going to take a couple of games for players to round into form. I certainly do not feel that adding those two games makes games now less significant than before. The only thing that may change is that the regular season may need to start earlier than before or end later.

I know last week, there was a contravercial call on what I thought was a TD catch. I think it was the Bengals game. Not sure of the details of the actual wording of the rules. I didn't realise it was confusing for fans. If it is, then it would be nice to clarify for the fans.
