I think to make this happen, we consumers need to DEMAND that it does. Tell them we don't want a contract and subsidized pricing, but rather better monthly cost and pay whatever the device costs from whomever we want. As long as most customers are happy with the subsidy regime we are stuck I am afraid as no other carriers seem to want to set things up different.

Right now you can get unlimited data (throttled after 5GB) and 100 minutes for $30 a month on T-Mobile. Great plan. I just would like to have the Verizon unlimited LTE.
But every day that passes takes me a little closer.
