Just to be sure because I might be doing the same thing in July, did you have to cancel the smartphone plan on your grandma's line on your own or did simply activating a dumbphone on her line cancel it? Also did you do this online or in the store/over the phone? Thanks.
Re-activating the old dumb phone removed the $30 data plan from her account.

Since verizon allows you to change your plan at any time, the only requirement is that you keep your line active.
