I assume I would have the "beta" version or newer since some of those posts were old. thank you.
I'll try to help you as best I can because, as you suspected, I do not have your phone. At the time of these older posts, I wasn't able to find much discussion but stumbled upon this thread...
But before we do anything, we cannot assume that you have the "beta" version. If your phone cam pre-installed with Swype, then unless you are rooted and were able to uninstall the "stock" version of Swype, then you are stuck with the Swype version you have and, very possibly, a version that does NOT have the custom dictionary you might be looking for.
question is: did your phone come pre-installed with Swype??
If it did, then you might be stuck as I am NOT sure if Swype gets updated when pre-installed through over-the-air (OTA) updates or not
But then that would answer your question as to why you can't find the custom dictionary.
Next, I should be able to direct you where to find the version
I believe Swype to be "universal" so I should be able to direct you to see what version of Swype is currently installed in your phone but, forgive me, I'm not exactly sure of your menu titles.
If you go to your Home page, then click your Menu button and then go to Settings...scroll through your list of settings and find something that says either "Language and Keyboard" (that's what mine says) or Keyboard or something like that and choose it. Then, hopefully
, find Swype/Swype settings...then Preferences once you are in there. Scroll to the bottom of the preferences and you should see an "About" section with the "Version" number.
Reply back here with the version number and we'll try to determine if you're on "stock" with the custom dictionary (or possibly a future OTA update) or if you're on the beta!
