Well, since (1) you confirmed that your Swype was installed "stock" with your phone; (2) you said your not rooted; and (3) you've provided the version number of 2.72.xxxxxx then, unfortunately, I'm pretty certain that you're out of luck with regard to being able to directly edit the custom dictionary in the way I've mentioned in this thread...sorry
The Swype version on my phone is currently 3.26.92D.36178.10 and might actually be out of date as I haven't checked for a new beta version in a while. I don't recall exactly what version allowed the user to view the custom dictionary in the preferences and add/delete from that screen but it was somewhere around 3.24 or 3.25 what that started...way 'above" the current version you have!
So, if you ever get rooted you'll be able to remove the version of Swype that was preinstalled with your phone and be able to get back on the beta program for the latest and greatest! When you do, come back to the thread or drop me a note!!
