I tried to use the simple root program, but it wouldn't see my phone. So I went back to the link in the OP
public:forever [RootWiki] and followed the directions for S-Off and it worked.
I then downloaded a CWM recovery file that got me to the rooted traingle with ! symbol. Then I was in the CWM recovery menu and was able to reload like normal.
