Try the app called "photoslide"
it is very much like the Iphone picture viewer but not the same. It does cost though, I think like .99¢ but I think its better than the stock viewer, although there is no video support, but it does let you slide through your pics.
edit:
Picture viewer is good but it doesn't let you choose folders, so if you have a ton of pics you have to slowly scroll through each photo till you find the one you want.
