I'm not sure I buy that (not that I know for sure).. Then how would WiFi save battery life if it was keeping the 4G connection open? Does the data radio go into a MMS only mode?
All you have to do is have your wifi connected and send a MMS, you can see the arrows over your signal bars moving to show the transmission of data.
