Does not brick the phone, because it is directly from ATT/HTC. The only thing you need to do is sync anything you want to keep, because it reverts the phone to the out of box state.
Its pretty fool proof, but i'm willing to help anyone who has questions. I have run it on my phone and my wifes...I have extensive experience flashing rooted roms(Inspire 4g). Its not nearly as scary as you might think.
I'm holding off on rooting my vivid, because at the moment, the developers are still working on getting S-Off. That and the vivid forum at XDA has imploded recently, and thats where most of the development happens(historically anyway...WildChild has his own website now, and I have used lots of his ROM's before)

I have a ROOTED HTC VIVID. I was told that s-off is necessary for flashing ROMS. Can I get the ICS update and maintain root?
Does HTC DUMLOCK work as an alternative?
