You must have had the awful "anti-glare" ones (matte) from VZW.
I threw those out immediately, but their clear ones (dry application) are quite good!
Not rubbery at all, smooth, no lifting edges, zero bubbles. Saved my screen from a nasty scratch the other day, too.
I decided to use those till my XO Skin came in, but I still have the Verizon clear ones on to this day and the XO Skin is sitting in its box (since last December).
