UK T-Mobile upgrader deals?
For a long time I was fixated on the HTC One X as the phone I was replacing was a HTC Desire - in many ways an excellent phone and my daughter now has it. At the last minute, perhaps influenced by some Samsung TV ads, plus the fact that I could get the Note cheaper than the One X, I went for the Note. I don't regret it at all. But one of the guys on the One X forum here used the same company (Chitter Chatter) and got a much better T-Mobile upgrade deal than me.
He is on £15.81 per month and got a One X for £150. He was able to retain his existing tariff of 300 cross network minutes and 300 texts plus unlimited (3GB FUP) Web'n Walk, which is what I was on also. Basically his 2 year contract cost is £530, give or take a few pennies.
I wasn't aware of this when I dealt with Chitter Chatter and I was steered off my old tariff and given 300 minutes, and extra 200 texts (which I don't need) to 500, and my data was changed to unlimited web browsing and only 750MB data. The One X was £100 on top and the Note £50. I went for the Note of course. But my two year contract cost, for less service and a phone that is £50 cheaper than the other guy's is £554, £24 more. But much more concerning to me is that my data allowance has been slashed to a quarter of what it was.
I was wondering if any one else here has dealt with Chitter Chatter? I was basically very impressed with them until I found this discrepancy. I contacted them yesterday and they swear that it wasn't possible that the other guy got such a good deal. They asked for some details and I emailed them the forum thread url and I'm waiting for a response.
The other annoying thing is that I will never know if I could have had a better deal with my original supplier, mobiles.co.uk, because despite four separate calls over three weeks to discuss an upgrade, they said that only their specialist T-Mobile upgrade team could talk to me and despite four promises to call me back they never did.
