Many thanks for your reply.
Yup, I appreciate it is a cheap knockoff and I could probably get a refund but I want to persevere for a bit yet.
It is convenient for me personally to have a multi-SIMM phone and I have also considered importing them for sale through my IT business if I can find a reliable one. To that end I have brought in (to NZ) a dozen or so over the past two years to test. Many of them have worked somewhere between well and darned well for a time but something or other inevitably dies on them after a few months. This one had good write ups in several web sites so I thought I would give it a try, especially as it works with all three of my SIMM's (2 at a time) working with WCDMA and GSM. Have to keep in mind that they cost very little so I am not overly bothered about the lack of reliability from that perspective.
After submitting my question here I got a reply (followed by several exchanges) from the supplier. It ended with him telling me to do a factory reset. If it continues to be a pain I will do so but I have to admit I have downloaded stuff, set up mail, etc,. and have it exactly as I want it so I am delaying blowing that all away.
If anyone knows of a source for good reliable multi-SIMM phones I am interested. Someone suggested Japanese rather than Chinese but a casual search didn't highlight any for me.
