It boosted volume all around so I'm assuming that it probably changed a setting that upped to level on the amplifier on the phone. It not an amazing amount, but its enough to make my Senheiser HD428's uncomfortably loud at full volume (then again, they aren't exactly headphones that are hard to drive).
