Just read through this entire thread and finally removed this thing after changing my mind every 3rd post. The slide process does feel smoother and more natural, but it didn't seem to affect the initial push, so I'm certain it's not going to start opening in my pocket now just because I took the plastic off. Definitely a +1 for intended to be removed.
