Things like DroidRootHelper are also VERY handy because all that code stuff and entering things into the terminal emulator are pretty much taken care of automatically. I was nervous as all get-out when I rooted, and even more nerve-wracked when I loaded my first ROM and rebooted.
But you know what?
IT WAS WORTH IT!
The freedom I have to do so much with my phone, to have the latest and greatest, and to know I'm not subject to the Powers That Be who control updates... I already have all that stuff and then some.
If you don't want to root, don't. But don't let sheer
FEAR stop you from doing something that you want to do. Ask yourself this: in all these forums, how many posts are from n00bs who have truly bricked their phones?
The answer is none.
