There are several open source applications for Linux that can access Echolink. thebridge, used for Echolink conference servers, and Echolinux, a client for linux, can be found here

I'm digging into some development books and doing lots of reading in order to attempt to start development on this, but I am not a dev. I know about 3 lines of php and how to run make and that is the extent of my programming knowledge. It will be a great endeavor for me to do this, so any knowledgeable assistance or willing volunteers to head up such a project would be fantastic.
