Not everyone has the same needs you do. Prior to moving to VM, I was spending $30/year with PagePlus. If all I needed was a phone, VM is a huge waste of money for me.

I don't *need* a mobile phone at all, I *like* having a phone I can check email on, check traffic conditions on, look up a menu or phone number on, etc. But all of that requires a consistent data connection.

For me, the speeds are all over the place. 2Mbps down one minute, and wheezing through 1x the next. It causes issues with the email client and other programs that perform checks. I don't care if it is cheap if it isn't accomplishing anything that I need done.

I like the Triumph a lot. It has a great form factor, great screen, and good processing power. But stock it has serious issues with bluetooth, when the phone is idle the connection gets horked. It also seems less touch-responsive stock.

The CM7 ROM fixes bluetooth and the touch issue, improves GPU performance, but it uses a ton of battery on idle if wifi is enabled (even if it is set to turn off with the screen), and HDMI no longer works. Plus there are always minor quirks like customized ringtones not sticking, camera issues, etc. They get fixed, but then other little stuff breaks.

It would be nice to have a phone where the features work as advertised, and the network has consistently decent speed. If enough of the features work for you, and the network is good enough, awesome. But don't expect that means it is good enough for everyone else.
