Hi. I'm a newbie on these forums but I joined because I've just put a £10 deposit down on a blue S3 with Orange... and then I saw this thread!
I've been with Orange for years and remember having a PAYG phone that had features disabled but that was a good 6-8 years ago now. I'm coming off a roling SIM Only contract to go onto a Panther 31 Extra (24 month) so i can finally get this phone - i held off getting the S2 cos I knew this was on its way!
My current phone (now a good 4 years old!) is unlocked and was bought from CW due to this very issue of Orange messing about with handsets.
I'm seriously concerned about this software update option being disabled and I would like to know if the phone I receive has the same issue before I sign anything. Do you think the guy/gal in the shop will agree to take the phone out of the box and show me prior to me signing 2yrs of my life away.
